New York City is a city where everyone takes pride in the team that is from there. New York is more than likely the most popular city when it comes to talking about major league teams. I've never been there but I hear that there isn't a day or night that there isn't a major sporting event happening in that city.

The National Hockey League that near lost its sport is now up and running. New York is known well by the Rangers who got Shannahan from going back to the Red Wings. They perform their home games at Madison square garden.

Set aside hockey, there are more than many other major sports you can see while staying in New York City. I believe there are a few baseball fans in the city. I say only a few because they obviously had to make two teams for so many fans. I will say that the fans do stay loyal when it comes to major league games. The New York Mets and the Yankees draw more than enough loyal respect from their loving fans from this city.

The crazy thing to me is that the double making of teams didn't stop here. It appears that New York City also has made two really good football teams as well, the Jets and the Giants. Even though I really don't like either team I give New York props for having two teams that can be supported by all the fans.

Set aside, it also appears that there is still only one basketball team and that is the Knicks. I will not discuss here how it is unfair to the other sports playing in this city but this one team seems to have all the fans attention when they play not just a piece of them. With all so many sports going on in this City it's crazy to know that men in this city actually keep a job and don't have a pocket T.V. to go with them everywhere they go.

I don't know about your humble abode, but around my area it's hard enough to get anyone to go to a family gathering everyone is always doing something else. I don't see how women in New York keep a guy but they must do the same they must love the same as they do. But to all of the women and the men that they all so love, I have to say good job for supporting your men and respecting the teams that are in the city you live in. all the sports in your city have to draw attention to you somehow because they all draw attention to the fans.

If you have been a sports fan, you have all the chances in the world to have fun with your other fellow sports fans. Instead of viewing the game at home sitting by yourself, you can invite all your best friends or best sports fan friends over and have a party. It's a good time to get to know other people and to have new people over. Other than just sitting at home with the same people as always can get pretty boring, you can go into the games and meet new friends to have fun with. The more you get around more people the more you will meet.

It looks as if everyone has been to a super bowl party. Even those who can't stand football have been to a super bowl party where they have met cool new people. It's a great day to get together with others and enjoy the same thing as everyone else, and more than likely meet completely new people. Many new friendships are made at super bowl parties and many can be broken through stupidity. You encounter someone who you really like to talk to and like hanging around, and might even end up watching another game with in the future to come. You will most likely end up with a hardcore group of football jocks who love the same thing you do or even more.

Fantasy football leagues are also another great way to get involved socially in the surrounding area around where you are located you have heard of the rules by now. Every player in the fantasy football league picks players from all different teams, and receives a score based on the recruit's performance. These events are held everywhere you can imagine I think that's why they are called fantasy games. Just discover a plug in and you will be able to have your fantasy football anywhere and everywhere you go. Sometimes the league will meet up and discuss stats with each other.

As you see before this there are many different ways you can get more active in the areas around you. Watching football no longer has to be the only thing involved in your life. Invite your friends over, have some beer, and enjoy sports with the people you love to chill with. If the people you hang around with don't like sports go out and find something that the whole group likes and loves to do. I am sure you can find something for your whole group to do besides sit at home and watch football there are many clubs and other places you can go to have a good time.

Did you know that eBay got its start buy offering collectibles fro sale online? This eBay category is one of the largest and most active on the online auction site. People who have been eBay users for a long period of time tend to be very knowledgeable in particular areas and many are rabid collectors of certain items. You will sometimes find that when you put an item up for auction that you found at a garage sale or something that you didn't think anything about will create a bidding war over people who need that particular thing to complete a collection.

Unlike many other items such as shoes and clothing, collectibles are a category that brings a very emotional response that helps to get higher bids. In many cases when someone is bidding on an item they have been seeking for a long time they will throw caution to the wind and bid wildly just to win the item. This is one of the reasons why selling collectibles can be such a profitable business.

To find collectibles that you can sell on eBay you may want to visit yard sales in your area, but make sure you get an early start there are many others who are now doing the same thing because they know how lucrative it is to sell items on the online auction site. Another way to find items is just to ask people when you go to their homes if they have anything unique or collectible that they may be interested in selling.

Another little known and little used method of finding collectibles and other things to resell on eBay is to buy them at smaller auction sites that don't get as much traffic and therefore not as many bidders. You may be able to pick up items at a fraction of their true worth and then turn around and sell them for a huge profit by listing on eBay.

Another sneaky little tactic is to put your item up for sale in a category that has nothing to do with the term, "collectible". For example if you have an autographed football you may put it in the collectible category but also put it in the sports category. You find a fan of the particular sports star willing to pay far more than someone watching the collectibles category.

Don't be an uneducated seller. Find out everything you can about the item you are selling so that you can get the top price. If you are able to tell a story and give lots of information on how rare an item is you will always get a better price for it. Don't leave out any details, most collectors are very detail oriented so the more you tell them the better off you will be.

Many people may immediately think of collectible cards when thinking of sports memorabilia but the fact of the matter is there are a lot of other options available in this fun hobby. There is also a wide range of sports that one can find collectibles for.

When I was growing up there was a show called the "Wide World Of Sports", this is so true today. With the internet many sports from around the world have become even more popular and as a result there are even more people who are collecting items from sports and sports stars all over the world who they may have never heard of before the existence of the internet. You can collect items from such diverse sports as football, baseball, soccer, NASCAR, and even the UFC or Ultimate Fighting Championships.

As with other collectibles sports memorabilia must be preserved in pristine condition in order to be valuable. No one is going to give big money for baseball cards that are frayed or dog eared for example. This is why you will see many serious collectors who will have their items in air tight containers which are then stored in fireproof and moisture proof vaults. I have seen some people who have had the forethought to save items for their grandkids, not many people think of that but those who do often leave them with a valuable heirloom.

The hobby of collecting sports memorabilia covers an enormous array of diverse items that one can collect from the old baseball cards found in bubble gum packs to actual uniforms that a particular sports star wore such as a Wayne Gretzky hockey uniform or Emmit Smith's football jersey. Baseballs from the time of Babe Ruth bring enormous sums of money when they have been signed and authenticated. Homerun record baseballs are valuable as well.

If one collects books or magazines these can be valuable as well especially with magazines when one has every issue ever released going back for decades. I used to have a huge collection of bodybuilding magazines going back for over 20 years and I had every issue, when I decided to part with them the collection was quite valuable because it was so complete.

Even items that are not thought of as sports related but endorsed by sports stars can be worth quite a lot. Old Wheaties boxes with sports stars on the have been prized as collectibles. Action figures that are made is a sports stars likeness also make for fun items to collect. Just always be sure to protect the items if you are looking for them to increase in value, as I said before collectibles only become valuable when kept pristine.

Many people have become enamored with the hobby of collecting different items and one of the most rewarding is that of collecting art collectibles. There are so many different items that can be collected in this genre that it truly boggles the mind. In the art collectibles category one can collect anything from rice grains that have tiny paintings on them to giant paintings or posters or even wall tapestries. There are also rare items that are numbered and limited that can be collected such as the plates or certain sculptures that you may see advertised on TV or in magazine.

Many people follow particular artists and collect mainly that artist's work. One of my favorites is an artist by the name of Wyland who specializes in paintings about marine life. His paintings are very colorful and the creatures he paints almost seem to be alive. This particular artist is also known for his enormous murals that are painted on buildings and called "whaling walls". These murals depict many different species of whales. We have one near me in Destin Florida.

Collecting art need not be a hobby only for the wealthy and affluent. You don't have to be a collector of Rembrandt to be able to enjoy this fun hobby. There are many other pieces if art one can collect that can be just as rewarding to the average person. I have a friend who collects movie posters and he has one of the largest I have seen. Some of these posters make really cool art when framed and hung on the wall.

As a professional internet marketer I am a big user of eBay for finding all sorts of items and art collectibles are no different. As a matter of fact you will be completely blown away by the enormous selection available just from this one source. You can even sell items of your own that you may want to get rid of when starting a new collection. You may also be very surprised at the valuable collectibles you can find at garage sales and flea markets. I know when I have taken the time to get out early on a Friday or Saturday morning and hit the garage sales I have often found some bargains that were worth many times what I paid for them.

It doesn't matter where in the world you are there are artists available whose work you may want to collect. I have a friend on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas whose teenage son creates beautiful pieces of art depicting different types of fish which he fashions from driftwood and then paints them with bright colors. This is something that can be fun if you travel. Collect art from local artists wherever you go that will also give you fond memories of the places you have been.

One hobby that may be underrated is that of collecting postcards. Collecting postcards, especially vintage postcards or those from another country can be educational, fun, and financially rewarding as well. You will be amazed at some of the places that collectible postcards may be found. The most valuable of these are those that were made before 1930 which are called "pre-linen" Cards from that time to the mid 1940s are also in demand. One place to find postcards like these is art auctions.

Another time period that features some relatively valuable collectible postcards is the period from the 50s and 60s, many of which were very brightly colored and were the first to make use of what was known of as the "chrome technology" in printing. Surfing was really popular during the latter part of this period and one can find a diverse collection of postcards from Hawaii and California featuring surfing.

Another great category of postcards are those that were sent for holidays which were made back in the early 1900s. These old cards that depicted things like Santa Claus for Christmas and romantic depictions for the celebration of Valentine's Day. These old postcards often have very detailed and colorful artwork which is why they are in demand as collectibles.

Personally, I like collecting postcards from all over the world. It is so interesting to see how different cultures depict certain things and also the differences in artistic interpretation. As an avid surfer it is fun to me to get postcards from some of the many surf spots we travel to in locations such as Indonesia, Costa Rica, Panama, and of course Hawaii. You can do the same with whatever hobby or interests you may have and collect postcards from countries you visit. Of course one doesn't have to go to a country in order to get the postcards, you can always pick them up on eBay as well or as mentioned you can find them at art auctions. You may be lucky enough to find some at estate sales or even yard sales.

Unless one is very well versed and trained in the art of collecting postcards they may have no idea of how valuable the items may be and in the case of buying them at art auctions they are usually not even announced as part of the available items for sale. This is great for you if you are knowledgeable since you will be able to reap the benefits of knowing what the postcards are actually worth and potentially pick up a great collection for pennies on the dollar.

If you want to get into a fun and very educational hobby then collecting postcards may be for you and if you have children they may find it fun as well.

Collecting superhero figures is not just for children. Many adults really enjoy searching out and finding original superhero figures from their favorite characters. They look online at places like eBay and other online auction sites bidding on original action figures. These action figures can be very inexpensive and only costs $5 to $10 or they can be very expensive costing several hundred dollars. The cost depends on how old the action figure is and what shape the action figure is in. Original figures are worth a lot more money if they are in good condition without any scratches, dents or other blemishes.

Superhero collectibles are more than just action figures that you play with. Collectibles are figures that adults usually purchase and leave in the boxes and do not play with. These type of collectibles are different than the action figures that children purchased at toy stores. The main reason is because these collectibles are not played with, there only purpose is to remain in a box on a shelf for display. So most children do not get into collecting superheroes until they are much older and no longer feel the need to play with the collectible superhero figures.

Comic book and superhero figures are more popular today than they have ever been. With more and more new movies coming out, made from superhero comic books, it is easy to understand why these figures are so popular. Every year millions of dollars are made from movies based off of comic book heroes. These movies are not just geared towards children or adults that like to collect superhero memorabilia; these movies are made for audiences of all ages.

Millions of people around the world enjoys superheroes both in comic books and in movies so it is no wonder that collecting superhero figures has become such a multimillion dollar industry. So the next time you're in a toy store looking at figures from the latest million-dollar comic book movie, consider purchasing them and keeping them in the box so that you can sell them on eBay to one of the diehard collectors looking for that figure. You never know you might just make a few extra dollars.

Whether you enjoy collecting superhero figures or just watching superhero movies; superheroes are something that we all look up to. They can fly, or have super strength ,they fight the bad guys, and keep the Earth safe. Compare that to most of our daily boring lives it is easy to see why superheroes are so popular. Our children love to watch the cartoons, then grow up to read the comic books, and we all grow up to idealize the vision of superheroes in our society.

Collectible figures whether superhero or otherwise are an interesting way for an individual to show how much they enjoy a specific character. So even children may decide to get into collecting superhero figures, although they may not be able to keep the figures in the boxes and not play with them. But enjoying the superhero figures is the best part of collecting them.

Properly forged swords last a lifetime, or at least they should. Unfortunately, properly forged swords are few and far between these days. Sure, a knight could have found one during medieval times or a Samurai could have found one in his local village, but Joe Schmo in the USA of the twenty-first century will have to really search for a well forged sword if he wants one that will last. Thankfully our livelihood does not depend on these weapons of war any more.

While stainless steel might work for forks, spoons, and butter knives, it does not work well for swords. Any sword made of stainless steel does not qualify as genuine because it just will not last. The forging and metallurgical processes that make this sword cause the metal to literally become brittle.

This does not mean that a sword love should completely shy away from this type of metal. On the contrary, many of these swords make for some great decoration in the home. Think about how a pair of Cavalry swords might look in a crossed pattern on that large blank wall in your den. If you love shiny aesthetics, this might work better for you than a painting.

Swords made of 5160 have proven themselves much tougher than those made of stainless steel. We find this type of steel in truck springs, so the steels durability only makes sense. After all, it has the ability to support tons of weight without breaking, so surely it would withstand a few hundred pounds of pressure that accompany a sword swing.

Other types of tough steel exist as well. The form L6 has recently become popular for its durability. Japanese swords often use this with a clay tempering method. Many times the beautiful swords are not the durable ones. Because we no longer need these little weapons, great smiths are a dying breed. While some will opt for metals like 01, D2, or A2, these fall into the steel realm and thus only work well functionally. You wouldn't want to hang them on the wall as show pieces.

The quality of steel will vary as much as the variety of steel. Where a steel sword is manufactured matters just as much as how it is manufactured. For example, many third world countries like India and Pakistan will use recycled steel from the same tough truck springs we talked about earlier. The result often times is not pretty: swords will literally crack under pressure. This does not occur all the time, but far more often than desired. Recycled steel does not always result in a bad sword. Some of the best swords out there come from forged welded cables and Russian anchor iron.

In the end, a buyer is always taking a risk when he purchases a sword. But if he examines all of the factors, he can at least minimize the risk and know what he is buying.

In today's online market, there are many ways for the average Joe to buy and sell goods which have added options to the former yard sale generation. Ebay has skyrocketed the possibilities in which consumers can both seek out and get rid of various item from purses to houses to small collectibles. Auction prices are set by sellers and revised accordingly as supply and demand warrants. It is astounding how many items a simple search will provide, even on a focused area such as diecast cars. Since the popularity of diecast cars is increasing exponentially with the new designs that the marketplace is offering, the online demand for the products has increased proportionally. One can find many opportunities to build a collection simply by logging on to Ebay. Alternatively, one can sell parts or entire collections through the same venue. All it takes is a computer, digital camera, and a little know how to become a successful diecast merchant on the internet.

Ebay is the most reputable online auction service. It has many safeguards in place to protect both buyers and sellers and to preserve its good name. While using Ebay once may assume they are in pretty good hands. However, vigilance is always necessary in the online auction world. Obviously there are always "bad guys" who are out to get novice consumers and take advantage of their lack of experience. The people at Ebay go great lengths to ensure your protection such as shutting down phony auctions and people who bid fraudulently to increase the bid price. These safeguards are useful, but not perfect. For this reason one must always utilized common sense when buying or selling diecast cars on Ebay.

Another website devoted to selling cars is gomotorbids.com, a division of gomotorsports.com. This site operates a bit differently than Ebay in that the cars can only be bought, not sold. Due to this fact, the site is more of an online store with an auction format. The company owns all of the cars being sold and the operators of the website ensure that all sales are completed with accuracy and legitimacy. Also, all bids begin at one dollar, eliminating the "reserve" sometimes seen on Ebay to inflate bidding prices. This site boasts that the consumer will be satisfied with every sale on gomotorbids.com due to its policies and safeguards.

When faced with the decision of where to buy and sell diecast collectible cars, one must consider all options. Of course yard sale type business including trading with acquaintances is always an option, but not often feasible. It requires a lot of time and includes traveling to destinations in order to make purchases and/or sales. The alternate option of internet merchandise fits into the lives of many more collectors. It is a personal decision, but once made, collectors find themselves accomplishing their goals of both accumulating and selling diecast cars for display.

Thanks to Hollywood heroes like Antonio Bandarras playing Zorro and Tom Cruise playing the Last Samurai, we have seen a resurgence in the sword market. Individuals are at least asking about swords if not actively seeking to buy them. And why not, they make some pretty neat show pieces if you prefer the martial arts style of decorating.

Several different types of swords exist. Interested buyers can find just about any desired sword, from the medieval broad swords to the fencing swords to Cavalry sabers to swords with Asian influence in them if they just know where to look. Dozens of websites and stores carry different styles.

Think about this: a person can style his room specifically to a given era by just picking out the right sword. If he likes King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, he has the option of trying to find a medieval styled sword to hang on the wall or place in a cover in the corner. If he prefers the valor of the samurai he can find the sweeping blades to adorn his walls. And if he wants to pay homage to the U.S. Cavalry men like Teddy Roosevelt he could probably find an authentic Cavalry sword online.

We are even seeing sword stores pop up in unlikely locations, like malls. Check out your own local mall. You might be surprised to see a blade store feature a variety of styles in the corner part of your local mall. And just about anyone can find what they need for a weapon or adornment there.

Swords also vary in their medium. Two different types of sword qualities exist. Stainless Steel, the most popular and thus easiest to find, often finds itself used for display or show. It does not have the durability of the Carbon steel, the type of swords often used at Renaissance festivals for fighting shows. Additionally, an owner can keep his sword in great shape with just a little sewing machine oil rub down.

We have even seen swords used in everyday sports that have become so popular even the Olympics features them. Meet fencing. Obviously the players have little possibility of hurting themselves thanks to smart body armor, but they still are wielding a weapon with a blade ferociously, gaining a good cardiovascular workout in the process. They also learn about how to engage in a fight with honor and valor, like many of the swords symbolize.

From Luke Skywalker's light saber to the swords that knight dukes today, the long bladed handle will always remind its owner of something important in his life. Every sword captures sparks an image in the eye of its owner, whether its that of a man fighting valiantly from the top of a horse, or a white clad athlete fighting for his country in the recent Olympics. Swords are here to stay.

Is it possible to fix antique scopes or binoculars so that they can be used today? Antiques command great respect, but modern appliances offer advantages that old models do not have. Collectors are aware of antiques coming on the market. They hunt for old optics and they find them in pawnshops, at garage sales, swap meets, camera shows, utilizing every possible opportunity. Collections of antique telescopes, binoculars, lenses, and old tools and equipment are a bold reminder of yesterday. This is the "show and tell" of history; preserved collectors are professional people, as well as amateur astronomers. Librarians and researchers record this history in museums and journal publications.

An Antique Telescope Society was formed just over a decade ago. This international organization of more than 200 collectors and antique dealers has established ongoing support for maintenance, restoration, and preservation of antique instruments. Some of the members own an antique instrument, but others do not. All share an avid interest in the preservation of antique instruments, and they have a strong commitment to education. Preservation techniques are made available through scheduled workshops and journal articles, as well. In an effort to preserve the accumulated information of this optic society, members have collaborated in writing biographies of persons who have made significant contributions in the development of telescopes and binoculars. As this research is shared, the benefits are enjoyed on a global scare.

The Antique Telescope Society does not assign monetary values to antique instruments. Individual members and dealers provide price information for buying or selling items. Seasoned collectors/dealers often discuss or trade information on the antique instruments. Collecting is expensive. A person, who is a member of the Antique Telescope Society, may own an antique instrument, or they may not. A member who has a genuine interest in the history of telescopes and the preservation of these antique instruments will be an asset to the organization and they will benefit from membership.

How old must a telescope be to be considered antique? Age is a factor, but a real antique must be complete and in good condition. Perfect items are rare. Research of the history of telescopes will show comparative examples. Recording the life of the instrument using oral history will establish its viability.

Antique binoculars and telescopes are attractive buys for collectors, while a vintage spyglass has its own unique appeal. With the fine art of restoration, a greater number of artifacts are salvaged. The historical roots of telescopes present exciting challenges for collectors and dealers, as well. Research is most relevant, when recorded in a timely manner, as sage members of the Antique Telescope Society hold the technical knowledge that is critical. This knowledge must be compiled for the good of collectors and dealers. The value of antique binoculars and their counterparts has increased while the inventory of these antiques in circulation has also grown.

For all of those who retire to the television for hours at a time to gaze at colorful machines whizzing around an asphalt track, the idea of taking a front seat to the action is quite enticing. However, for most this is just a childhood or even grown up fantasy which is unlikely to result in the shifting of gears and pit stops to frantically change smoky tires. For some, there may be a way to quench, or at least wet, the thirst for first hand NASCAR excitement: diecast cars.

In today's modern market of video games and computer overuse, there is a concept being revived in popular culture: the collectible car. While many may remember the days of the matchbox car, few children today can appreciate the true popularity that was once there. With the dawn of a new miniature car series, this notion may change. Kids may just hang up their joysticks and stop to take in the most recent release from Racing Champions.

Who can turn down a good duplicate? Americans everywhere enjoy the hobby of collecting valuables, and sometimes not so valuables. Mini cars are no exception. In the Ebay age, collections have ranged anywhere from Beanie Babies all the way to cigars. In an almost revival effort, Racing Champions has introduced a new mini car line geared at both a collector's audience as well as an audience of kids who like cars.

NASCAR driver Rich Bickle partnered with well known restaurant Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits in announcing a new line of diecast collectible cars which will feature the signature #91 style renowned to Bickle fans. The new series is targeted at NASCAR fans of all ages who can appreciate the value of striking miniature reproductions.

Youngsters may value the cars for the cool look or simply to crash into their other matchbox cars or slide down their car racing tracks. The vibrant animated appearance will surely please the eyes of kids while the fine detail will tickle the fancy of serious car lovers. The reproduction is uncanny and the vivid colors and movable parts will entice even the most discriminating collectors. Bickle has partnered with Ed Smith of Ironworks and Jon Luther of Popeyes to create the line, and the shared expectation is that cars will fly off of store shelves and into collections nationwide.

This type of pop culture memorabilia gives character to a society. While some families pass down fine jewelry, other pass down collectible cars. To some it may seem frivolous, but to the man who watched NASCAR with his father and grandfather, these items are priceless.

For anxious collectors these cars can be purchased online at a variety of sites.

There are a wide variety of hobbies that people take up to fill their spare time. Hobbies can range from activities such as knitting or drawing to rebuilding computers and cars. One broad hobby that encompasses many walks of life is collecting. It is such a broad hobby because collections can be comprised of almost anything that pleases the collector. A popular collector item is cars, however, this is also a broad topic. Collectors may accumulate luxury cars, old cars to be restored, or even miniature car replicas. The latter being the most wallet friendly and easy to store makes it a very common collectible item.

If one's interest lies with miniature cars, diecast cars will certainly be visible on their radar. More specifically, NASCAR diecast cars are often sought after by collectors. However, for the novice collector, the cost of building up a NASCAR diecast collection can be quite pricey. Some collectors argue that spending a portion of their life savings to maintain their collection robs them of their enjoyment. One option these collectors have is to seek bargains on Ebay. While some sellers may hike their prices in order to turn a large profit on the mega internet trading website, others are in it for the love of collecting. Therefore, one stands a decent chance at finding NASCAR diecast at affordable prices so that their desire of owning a collection may be satiated. So how does an inexperienced collector differentiate good deals from rip-offs?

Firstly, one must consider the specifications and features of the car before determining its value. The main specification in determining the price of diecast cars is the size, and, as most things go, bigger size means bigger price tag.

For a few reasons the 1/64 scale is an excellent way to get started collecting diecast cars: they are low-priced and easy to store. A good way to get started is to buy in bulk lots. In this way one gets a good amount of cars for a reasonable price and they can then be displayed in a case or on shelving without looking bare. If you are on the opposite end of the collector spectrum and are considering selling some or all of your cars, selling in bulk lots is also a great option. Ebay is a great place to get started buying and/or selling lots, just remember to include ample pictures and thorough descriptions in order to get the most bidders.

There are options for more savvy collectors who desire a more advanced collection. The 1/24 and 1/8 scale cars are more expensive than the 1/64 scale, but they are bigger and often have movable hoods and doors which add a realistic aspect. There are different styles of 1/24 cars such as the Sprint, Nextel, and Craftsman series. All of these series boast quality detail, but the Craftsman series is harder to find because the demand is lower than those of the other series. The 1/8 scale cars are the most expensive and are much larger than the other scales. If space is an issue, consider where you will store these models before purchasing them.

The diecast marketplace gained a new member seven years ago with the unlikely appearance of Jada Toys. The beginner brand began humbly but swiftly gained astounding interest due to the development of its style and trendy new design concepts. You might ask, what drove the company into the spotlight of the industry? The answer is simple: adding flashy new designers Luis Tanahara and Kevin Thaxton to the payroll.

One half of the new design team, Luis Tanahara first joined Jada Toys solo after leaving Mattel in 2001. He exposed Jada Toys founder Jack Li to the new and upcoming trend of "dubs". The term "dubs" referred to the addition of large wheels to smaller cars that had been lowered for aesthetic effect. Following the dubs trend, more and more car customizations began to take place ranging from massive music systems to fancy DVD players installed into the headrests. Luis Tanahara applied this notion to diecast cars and the concept took off into a new line called "Dub City", modeled after the dub phenomenon of car customization.

Soon after Luis incorporated custom diecast car design into Jada Toys, his long time friend and colleague Kevin Thaxton joined the Jada family. As high school classmates, Luis and Kevin started as sketchers and from there moved on to more sophisticated art forms such as airbrushing. Years later they were professionally reunited and their synergy skyrocketed the success of Jada Toys. Together they took diecast to the next level of exquisite design and flare. Working from their extensive design experience together, the two made a stellar design team and utilized a well built process of diecast car production.

Luis and Kevin start the proverbial ball rolling by sketching their own paper designs of custom diecast cars. After extensive editing, the designs are applied to a three dimensional model from which realistic versions soon arise. The refining process continues until the designers are satisfied with their creation. From computer to reality: both clay and resin models are formed to allow for further design cultivation in a practical matter. Finally, a metal copy is updated, painted, and sent off to Hong Kong for factory production and visually enticing packaging meant to attract consumer attention. After mass production these cars find their way into the hands of car lovers and collectors around the globe.

Success stories are inherently good natured, and this story is no exception. With the addition of two artistic high school buddies, Jada Toys was able to launch itself right into the mix of the diecast world. What began as a sketching hobby blossomed years later into a successful design career that earned diecast cars a nice fit in the pop culture scene.

It is a widely known fact among cigar lovers that the very best quality cigars are those from Cuba. The problem with having that knowledge is that it can land you in hot water if you are determined to buy them or at the very least make you get burned by someone selling cigars as Cubans that really aren't. If you are insistent on getting yourself a box of these high quality stogies then you should follow some of the advice given below to make sure you get what you are seeking and stay out of trouble at the same time.

Since President Kennedy placed an embargo on Cuba in 1963, Cuban cigars have been illegal to import. One little known fact is that JFK had one of his assistants go to Cuba and bring back a large supply of the Cubans before the embargo took effect so that he would have them for his own personal use. Partly because they are the best and partly because they are forbidden, the Cubans are highly desired by cigar aficionados. The only way that one can legally bring back cigars from Cuba is if you go there on an officially licensed trip, but even then you are only allowed one hundred dollars worth. You need to know that buying, selling, and trading Cuban cigars in the United States is against the law and you can be fined over $50,000 for doing so.

If you are considering buying a complete box of Cubans you can expect to pay heavily for them, they aren't cheap at all and a box can set you back as much as $500. If you are shopping for these classic stogies and you are offered a box for less than a couple hundred dollars they are probably not authentic. This is largely the case with many internet sites so be careful when buying them on the internet.

So, with all that said, how in the world are you supposed to be able to find the real thing? One of the simplest ways to get them is to go to the Great White North, Canada. They aren't illegal there so you can buy them there, but you must camouflage them to bring them back here because it is still illegal to bring them into the U.S. Remove them from their original packaging, remove the rings, and put them in another box. With all the other things customs agents are looking for these days they generally don't check cigars that closely and it isn't really considered a huge offense to bring them in anyway.

Swords can be made out of many different materials depending on what they will be used for. Swords are a dangerous weapon that can be used to kill people. Hopefully the only reason you would want a real sword is if you are a collector, and not to actually harm someone. The materials used to make swords for movies, or wall decorations are different than what real swords are made out of.

Wood is one of the materials that a sword can be made out of. Some sword smiths make a model of the sword they are going to make out of wood first so they know what type of design they will be using. The reason for this is that wood is cheaper, and still gives you a good idea of what the end product will be.

Stainless steel is used to make swords for decoration. Stainless steel is not a strong enough metal to be used on a functional sword. A true sword will never be made out of stainless steel.

Aluminum is another metal that is used in sword making. These swords are also used mostly for decoration. Aluminum is used because it is easy to cut and finish and is relatively inexpensive. They are also strong and lightweight, and you can make them have a mirror finish so they look great on the wall. In addition to looking good they are rust resistant, and are easy to keep looking good. An aluminum sword is what is commonly used in movies or demonstrations. When swords are used for movies or demonstrations the edges are dulled to prevent injuries.

Carbon or flexible steel is what a real sword will be made out of. This material is very strong. Flexible or spring steel is what is preferred due to its flexibility. If a sword is struck with high impact it will flex a little bit instead of bending right away. If the sword is bent in combat it can usually be fixed by a professional sword smith.

There are many different grades of steel that can be used to make swords. You may want to check and see which grade of steel the sword you are buying is made out of. Not all swords are made the same. Some flexible or spring steel is not made as well as others. Spring steel is made out of recycled truck springs. This is a great metal for sword making if the steel is recycled properly. If the steel is not properly recycled, it can revert to its original grain. Cracking due to stress and shock is also something you need to be careful of.

When purchasing or making a sword make sure you look at what the function of the sword will be, and the quality of the material you will be using.

If you have a little NASCAR fan in your home, a great surprise for him or her is to redecorate his or her room in NASCAR items. There is a variety of NASCAR bedding products available for kids of all ages.

If the child you are decorating for is a younger child you can even find toddler size bedding for the sport. Although it may be easier to get at least twin size bedding so your child will not outgrow the room to quickly.

Licensed Nascar bedding coordinates are available in many different styles. If you have a certain driver in mind, chances are there is a bedding set with their name and number on it. You can then match sheets sets, pillows, valances and window coverings and wallpaper border.

If you were thinking about NASCAR in general, you can find that also. The racecars on the bedding make great coordinating room scenes for small children, while the logo bedding is appropriate for older children.

In a small child's room you can get more creative with decorating. Once you have all the NASCAR bedding coordinates you can use some washable paint to paint a racetrack all around the room on the walls. Of course a racetrack wouldn't be complete without cars, so make some car cutouts from sturdy craft foam. These will not harm the walls and the kids can race cars all around the room. If you put some Velcro tabs on the back and a few dots on the track, when the kids are finished driving the cars around the room they can find a spot of Velcro on the track and stick the cars up for later use.

For an older child or teenager there is a great selection of NASCAR Bedding that will show off their favorite sport yet will still look grown up. With the matching NASCAR accessories and coordinates they can have a room where their favorite sport lives on. Wall borders are easy to hang, most using only water and a sponge, yet look as though they were made for the room.

If you have a bathroom in need of a quick makeover you can also get shower curtains, towels, and other bathroom accessories. Painting the bathroom a neutral color then the NASCAR licensed coordinates will add a bit of flair to a previously boring room.

So whether you are an old or new NASCAR fan, you can bring new life to your bedroom or bathroom by adding some NASCAR licensed accessories and coordinates. The prices are no pricier than a traditional bedding set. So go ahead and indulge your child or your self by being the next NASCAR driver if only in your dreams!

When it comes to art, you never know what they're going to call the next Mona Lisa. Art encompasses such a variety of forms of expression that you can't really say what is art and what isn't. Moving away from the past, we no longer equate art with fame or school taught skill. During earlier times, art was considered to be the product of those who presented attractive pieces from the knowledge and skills gathered from well established institutions. The artist would have to be well recognized by a high amount of people and the artwork had to highlight some sort of beauty.

This former way of thinking was a sad affair for painters and other creators of art because fame and recognition usually did not come until after they had died. Old perceptions of art also ignored pieces that may not necessary look the best or display outward beauty, but made you think and draw from its meaning. Today, art is whatever you believe it to be, from a splatter of paint to a graffiti riddled boxcar to a crystal or glassware creation. Many of these artworks become collectibles because they are something that you enjoy looking at, as well as possessing.

For those interested in collecting glassware, there are a few requirements that the rest of the world takes heed to in this respect. For a glassware piece to be considered a collectible, an artist that is well known most likely created it. When an ordinary piece of glasswork is hard to find because there were a limited amount of originals produced, this enhances its appeal to the public. This is what collectors from across the globe thrives on: finding that unique, sought after glassware creation. As with many collectibles, the less available the item is, the more valuable.

Once you have acquired a collectible piece of glassware, you will want to secure it in a place where it can stay in one piece. Often, a collector will invest in a decorative glass cabinet to keep their treasures. What is kept inside cannot fall to the ground or be touched by others. A piece of glassware placed on a bookshelf is just asking to be broken. When it comes time to clean your glassware, keep in mind the delicacy of this task. Regular detergents cannot come in contact to a piece of glassware that possesses painted details. Most often, a regular dusting is all the maintenance it will require.

For avid collectors, you most likely have a few favorite artists or designers in mind when you seek out a new purchase. These are the people you look out for in gallery showings and when new pieces become available. When you do not know where to look for your next collectible, the Internet is the perfect place to start. This is a great way to compare artists, as well as prices.

You would be surprised at the items that have been collecting dust in some of the garages and attics of many worldwide households. When it's time to do a little spring cleaning, eBay fills with some of the unwanted possessions from a wide range of characters. You never know when that collectible you've been wanting forever will appear as a listing. Every day, people take advantage of the chance to grab onto things they would never think they would see again.

Make sure you are prepared the next time you are looking for an item to add to your collection.
Most eBay users find what they are looking for situated all in one category. A helpful way to keep an eye out for potential purchases is to find a category that fits your needs best. Once you have established a suitable category, you should add it to the Favorites section in your browser. This makes checking in on new items much easier.

If you've been collecting for a while, chances are that you are already quite knowledgeable on the pieces you wish to purchase. This is your time to shine because often times, a seller doesn't even know what a great find they have in their possession. They may post a rare item up for less and are unaware of its monetary potential. Sometimes, important details are not included on a product description, which deters other collectors, but from your expertise, you are able to decipher a diamond in the rough.

Sometimes, emailing a seller to ask questions is a good way to confirm your suspicions. If you can bear to part with it once you've acquired it, you may want to resale the item to make a larger profit.

If a seller lists that they are selling an item that is "rare", keep in mind that this is not always true. Sellers are regular people like you and me, who have been known to stretch the truth a bit in order to attract potential buyers. Some sellers will just put the word into their descriptions because they think it makes the item sound better, not knowing the complications. Don't fall into the trap of bidding on something you aren't familiar with.

Some people will aggressively bid on an item like it is the last auction in the world. Consider all of the thousands, something millions of items that newly appear on eBay and remember that usually, what comes around goes around. You'll have your chance to find something just like it, if not the same. It is OK to walk away from a negotiation when the stakes get too steep. When you don't turn the other cheek, you will wind up paying too much for the item. Bidding wars can become quite expensive.

Even though you win an item at a reasonably low price, you must factor in the cost to ship it to you when the final bill rolls around. It doesn't make sense paying $20 in shipping costs for an item you won for $2, does it? A nice way to get around some costs is to buy a few items from the same seller, who will then often offer discounted postage.
