The Beatles were a strong musical force which forever changed the face of America. The introduction of their music made musicians all over America stop and reevaluate what they knew about music. After that point, the music across the country began to change and become more personal, raw, and honest. People loved The Beatles during their day and they love them up to this day. There is no shortage of collectibles relating to The Beatles and the love of the band will ensure that these collectibles remain so for a long time into the future.

John Lennon, naturally, was considered to be one of the primary moving forces of The Beatles. He wrote a great number of their most popular songs and his presence was a very important part to the group. What many people do not actually know is that John Lennon was an artist long before his career with The Beatles took off and he remained an artist throughout his entire time as a musician. The art that he produced before and during his time as a musician is incredibly collectible, valuable, and rare. If one has the opportunity to add a John Lennon piece to their collection, they should absolutely do so.

Most of John Lennon's collectible art has been reproduced in the form of prints. These prints themselves are still very rare and collectible as they were produced in a limited edition. Throughout his career as an artist, he often turned over some of his paintings that he felt strongly about so that they could be reproduced into collector's editions. His signature was placed onto the work and these items were produced for serious collectors.

Some of his works were reproduced in a lithograph form. One particular set, entitled Bag One, was designed for his wife, Yoko Ono, as a wedding present. When the images were later reproduced, a number of them became confiscated by the police in other countries as breaking indecency codes. This set of lithographs is considered to be very rare and valuable due to the nature of the circumstances in which they were released. Many of them were damaged or destroyed through confiscation and this resulted in the lithographs becoming one of the most rare complete collections to ever exist. Museums all over the world are still attempting to collect complete sets of these lithographs.

After John Lennon's untimely death, his widow decided to begin releasing his paintings to the world again. He had a store of many hundreds of paintings upon his death and she thought the best way to commemorate him was by sharing his art with the world. His pieces began to be printed again for the public to begin collecting and they are still being released to this day. The Lennon Estate helps to share these works with the world, allowing them to be produced in a way that avid collectors can find and obtain. A John Lennon print, as rare as it is, makes a great addition to a collection of autographed art and should be considered by any art collector.
